New InHouse Logo

For those of you that haven't heard me whingeing lately about coming up with a new logo for the studio...aren't you lucky!! But I am trying to come up with a new concept as I soon hope to start working on a new and trendy website (can't wait to get rid of my old and dodgy one!) Obviously the key thing is a new logo, and my goal was to have something funky and more focusing on the kids/ families area which is what I'd really like to attract. So...I came up with this door idea a while ago, and after some researching on the net I think I've come up with a basic concept that I like....sort of hand-drawn, cartoony, whatever you call it.....anyway, please let me know what ya reckon!

Mummy's practice session!

Today I convinced the kids to some up into our bedroom to do a bit of low-lighting shoot practice! This shot was taken very bravely because I was trying to use my external flash...not usually a succesful venture for me. But this was one of the shots that turned out quite well with partly natural light from the window and the flash bounced of the opposite wall for some fill light on the dark side. Some groovy photoshop colour tweaking and there you have it :-)

Christmas 2006

Hope everyone had a great Christmas...we had a lovely, relaxing day.

The See-Sawing continues...

Isaac and Cassidy got a see-saw from Grandad for Christmas. I was a bit hesitant to how the kids would go with it, but there have been no serious spills so far (empahsis on the "so far"!) They manage it pretty well, Isaac has got the idea of how to hold it steady for Cassidy so she can get on...he does relish the control of it a bit..ie his legs are longer than Cassidy's so he can start and stop the thing at his leisure!! We are still waiting for him to figure out that it could have catapulting possibilities :-) :-)

Rain!

It rained today! It is very sad that rain has become such a talk of the town lately...rain is an event around here. It actually rained on and off for a couple of days about a week ago, and, including what we got today, it would have to be a record for the past four to six months! This photographer is dying for some green grass to photograph people on....you just can't turn brown green very successfully in photoshop :-) Needless to say, Isaac wanted to go straight out there with an umbrella and had a great time... it was beautiful to watch my kids play in the rain...what a novelty!

Day in the Garden

We have just spent a couple of days working in the yard, catching up on all the boring things like mowing and hedge trimming (we have a lot of hedges!!) Here's just a few more of the kids hanging out at home...

Friends

Isaac and Cassidy, like most siblings I expect, flip very quickly between being friends and foes. Someone must have put something in the water though, because for the past week or so they have been getting along great for the majority of the time. Steve and I had a good giggle this morning though when we heard Cassidy cry whilst we were still lying in bed, so we called them both into the bedroom. When Steve asked Isaac what had happened, Isaac said "We had an altercation"!! We can thank Nanna for the extended vocabulary with that one...it's one of her common sayings when the kids fight!

Mr Incredible

Isaac got a special book from the Fisher family for Christmas that contains all you need to be a super hero...a cape and various cardboard cutout shapes such as a mask and special radio wristwatch to name a few! Isaac thinks it is just fantastic and has been zooming around the house saying he is Mr Incredible or a High Five Action Hero...very cute.

Thomas

The kids had a great time outside this morning...we gave Will and Tom water guns for Christmas(not your dodgy run of the mill water gun, the type with a backpack containing extra "ammo"). They quickly turned on anyone unable to defend themselves, so I decided against taking my camera out into the battlefield!! Tom had quite a colourful get-up on, complete with swimming cap to protect his ears from the water, so I took a few quick shots once we took his "weapon" into custody!!

Isaac

I also got a shot of Isaac in this groovy stone window down the beachfront whilst Jen and I were trying to be glamourous....and failing miserably :-)

Jen and Kate

We have our lovely friends Rod and Jen and their two boys William and Thomas from far north Queensland visiting us at the moment and we all trekked down the lagoon this afternoon for a sausage sizzle. Seeing as Jen and I rarely ever see each other, it's always a good time for a photo when we do!! We have just finished making a very basic digi page together, after we finished sorting through all the dodgy and un-flattering shots of us!

Christmas Card Photos

As most of you will be discovering in the next few days...this is the cover of our Christmas card. As you can see by Miss Cassidy's expression...she was absolutely FOUL the afternoon I took it upon myself to try to get our Christmas card shot. It's always bad when you have a pre-determined idea about what you want it to look like and one extremely un-cooperative 2 year old. She did brighten up towards the end, but I decided to use this shot as I reckon it shows the truth about my "angel faced" daughter!! (to see the photo bigger, just click on it)

Cassidy's Cubby House

Cassidy loves cubby houses and will keep busy for ages in one. She just needs a bit of help to rig up the blanket "roof" and move in some of the "furniture" and she's off. She drags in so many babies and teddies that there's hardly any room for her. Then she alternates between having pretend sleeps (if only they were real ones!) and making "cuppas tea" for all her friends. Very cute and very much a girl!!

Upside down Boy

"Hey Mum, take a photo of me upside down!"

A Family Affair

After a rush decision on the weekend, I ended up photographing the Taylor and Moore families at Maloolaba on Sunday afternoon....at first I thought the weather was going to be a bit against us but luckily the rain held off...you can see the rather dark and glowering sky in the background! Anyway, six kids and four adults makes for a fun time...which was exactly what we had! I have only had a quick look through so I might post some more later on :-)

Hung out to Dry!

This is my mad daughter helping me with the washing! Obviously I didn't start out there with my camera (washing is usually not an experience worth photographing!) but I quickly ran in to get it when Cassidy started hiding behind the sheets. We had a great game and this is one of the action shots!

Grandparents are much more fun!

Hanging out at Nanna and Pa's is always fun...especially with Pa who's sillier than the kids most of the time! (Love you Pa!!) I was never going to get a "everyone-smiling" kind of shot, but these are much more fun anyway.

Cute Family

It's not all that often that I'm completely happy with how a shoot goes, but these guys were lots of fun to photograph! The older boy was great at entertaining the two young girls and had them in giggles a lot of the time.

Redcliffe Lagoon

We took the kids down to Redcliffe Lagoon this morning for a swim. We haven't been down there for ages and it was really lovely. Aunty Em and Uncle Steve came along and everyone had a great time in the water (except me, the water has to be 30 degress before I'll get in).

Steve and Kate

I have started to collect photos for our Christmas DVD and I was quickly coming to the conclusion that I have no photos of Steve and I from this year...not a single one, not even a dodgy one! So I dragged Steve down to the studio last night to get a couple before he leaves on his big trip on Monday. We had a fun time - it was rather entertaining pressing the timer on the camera then taking our positions...there were some interesting results! We then took some of each other, which was even more interesting...Steve required a little coaching on how to make me look good... :-)

Cassidy's Curls

Cassidy was being a bit of a toad when I was trying to get the shot for our Christmas card, but I did manage to get this one nice shot of her. I love the way her curls are sticking out the sides! She is SLOWLY getting more hair, still nothing in the front on top....I think it will be quite a while before my girl has a fringe! Still, she has a couple of cute ringlets in the back so there's still hope for pigtails!

Make-Up Artist

Silly me....I was sitting on the couch having a cup of tea, thinking how peaceful it was - Isaac watching ABC Kids and Cassidy playing so quietly....hmmmm, Cassidy playing so quietly.....!! Yes, she was having a wonderful time in my make-up box in our bathroom, I think she had used most of the "products", luckily we seemed to escaped the mascara!! I think she better have a few lessons in application before she turns sixteen...

Fly Away

I caught these shots of Annaliese whilst I was meant to be taking photos of her mother! She was getting in the way so Heidi gave her a...what are those things called you blow and they float away?...anyway, that kept her busy for a few minutes so we could get some shots of Heidi!

Cassidy

WARNING: She's not as innocent as she looks!

Just Four

Isaac volunteered himself this afternoon for a couple of shots while I was tidying up the studio. I was wanting a nice "4 years old" shot of him anyway so I quickly grabbed my camera....he had his conditions though. He wanted to have a photo with his new Lightening McQueen Talkie Walkies (or Walkie Talkies to everyone else!) You wouldn't know it, but I actually kept him home sick today with a cold. Thanks to Photoshop, I softened the redness under his eyes and there you have it! Steve always jokes that our kids will never have any photos of them with snotty noses, scabs or sleep in the corners of their eyes....so what's wrong with that I ask you??!!

Isaac's 4th Birthday

Here are some more from Isaac's birthday. Unfortunately I couldn't get too many as the kids spent most of their time in the water fountain and I didn't want to get too close with the camera (hence the long distance shot of Isaac!). Isaac had a great time and was spoilt with his many presents with a distinctive "Cars" theme! He had a Cars cake (his favourite movie of late) and now has all the little models from his cake on his windowsill. I can't believe my baby is four...

Beach Babes

How cute are these two girls! Despite all the dramas of our week :-( the kids had a great time at King's Beach for Isaac's 4th Birthday. They had a ball running in and out of the fountain and we had a lovely spot under the trees. Cheyenne and Isabella looked gorgeous in their matching swimmers and Steve got this great shot of them striking a pose. I just need to get a shot of Cassidy with them as well as she has the same swimmers too! More pics of the birthday boy to follow soon...
